Sam Choi: Mr Hazelton’s Science class was fun and exciting. We also did Pastoral Care, Peer Support, and Maths. I think secondary school is very different from primary school. One of the reasons I like change is because you get new things to learn with, and you make new friends.
*wish* the building of our math project went better.
Sam: PDHPE was fun and it was my best subject ever. It is the best because I enjoyed the sport part of it and I enjoyed it when we talked about the negatives, the positives, and the neutrals about changes that are going to happen in the next few years.
*star* peer support
*wish* I could have participated in the learning part of PDHPE better.
Sam : Today was great and Mr. Watt’s art class was fun. Ms Sackey’s Sphero class was great and coding the Sphero was fun too. I have never gotten to do anything like what we did in Technology in primary school and that shows that you get more opportunities in secondary school than in primary school.
It was so fun, Mr Hazelton made science really fun, we made paper change colour. It was my favourite part of the day. We also had maths, pastoral care, and peer support. Secondary school is so much different to primary but way more fun. I like change and secondary school is a big change but that is good.
*wish* I could have participated better in maths.
Day 2 PDHPE was the best subject we got fit and active and we got to talk a lot. Peer support was good to we got play a ball game.
Today was the best so far we got to draw with robots; it was amazing. Also in art we got to make cities with paint. Peer Support was also good. I got to learn a lot more about high school.
Over all reflection: High school is amazing. I’m so glad I got this experience to learn more and talk to high schoolers. I can’t wait until high school because Science, Maths and Tech. I hope one day I will get to do this with other kids when I’m in year 11. I loved secondary school I hade so much fun this week I can’t wait till I’m in secondary school.
In art we had to make a landscape of city buildings, only using a few colours such as Green, Blue, White and Black and a few other tools. Mr. Watts put down the colours down at the bottom of the page, we were using A2 piece of paper. We had to use a piece of cardboard to stroke the paint up to create the all different sized buildings. We had to use the cardboard with these little faint-ish lines going up. After we had done the main bit of the buildings done we had to with a paint brush we used black paint and out lined the buildings, added windows and other details like trees or bridges. When we were using the cardboard we had to be carful about getting big blobs, if you did you just had to scrap it up with the cardboard and chuck it in the bin. Art was very fun and very different than our usual art, it was a lot more fun and I hope we can do that sort of art in the future.
Today in art we did some cool paintings of a deserted city. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of art. But today it was intersting.
And I had fun.
I reckon a lot of people liked Peer support – In Peer Support, we did a good activity. It was really fun and everyone liked it. We had to make a sculpture made out of playdough and our team had to guess what it was. It revolved around teamwork. It was hard but heaps of fun. Our team ended up coming 2nd. It made everyone really happy (year 5 boys).
Today we were in groups of our age group. (Year 5 girls, Year 5 boys, Year 6 girls, Year 6 boys) We all had a go at making something out of play dough. We all had someone guess our play dough creation really fast. It took no one more than 1 minute to work it out.
Today in tech we played with these little robots called spheros. They are controlled by iPads on an app.We put cups on them with a pen attached. The whole aim of it was to draw a picture by coding – the best lesson so far.
In Maths today we had to make a marble go down a construction (ramp) and land in a cup. It was hard, but fun. Our group did not make it work. I was sad but it was fun still. We had a future engineer in our group called Noah!
Our secondary experience has been wonderful. We unanimously agreed that it was the best day of our year so far. We think that some aspects of secondary school is very different to primary school. Like in Art, we actually used paint (Mrs Willis 😇🤣😛). We thouroghly enjoyed Technology. In fact, applause to Ms Sackey as it was our favourite subject followed closely by Science. We loved all aspects of it. Although secondary is very different to primary school, things like different classes for different subjects, locks on the lockers and they do food tech. Overall, I can not wait for high school – my experience could have been even better if Mrs Willis was a high school teacher 👏🏼😀😀😜
Today we did art. It was very interesting how we made the painted with the colours. There were four colours – black, white, green and blue. We had to put a piece of cardboard into the paint. At the end of it we made a beautiful artwork. It was a picture of some buildings with bridges and other cool things. Thank you so much for teaching us Mr Watts.
